THERAPY FOR TEENS

If you are a teenager, most likely you are experiencing exhaustion, stress, anxiety, and panic. The pandemic left you disoriented and adapting to "a new normal"

Being at home all the time led to tense family dynamics. Perhaps you also struggled to maintain a social life. Maybe being motivated became difficult at times. Or maybe, a feeling of being behind or unable to get into your dream school kept you up at night and in terror during the day. I get it. It sucks. What a time to be a teenager. Right?

Reaching out for help can be intimidating but you don't have to do this alone. Everyone deserves support along the way. I am here to help you!!!

These are a few ways I can help teens

      Talk therapy

How can talking with a therapist can help me?

Oftentimes it is difficult to open up with family or friends even if they want to support you. Talking with a therapist provides you a safe and non-judgmental space to explore your feelings, dreams, and fears, vent, or find solutions to issues that are worrying you. Perhaps you are exploring your gender identity. I'm here to help you too. The great thing about therapy is that your secrets are safe with me. I am not allowed to share with your parents what we discuss in session (unless you are in great danger; in that instance, I might be obligated to reach out to someone for support.) EMDR Therapy

Talk therapy is a great first step but how about if you don't like to talk?

EMDR is an alternative type of therapy. As an EMDR therapist, I can help your brain to process traumas and emotions that are causing you stress, anxiety, or depression.

EMDR allows the brain to heal by itself. It is a short-term therapy that helps process and compartmentalizes bad memories, traumatic experiences (present or past), and worries about the future. Click for more information.

TO PARENTS

I recognize that it is difficult to not know everything about what is going on with your children - but giving space to your teen, listening, and reminding yourself that adolescents are navigating different processes at the same time (such as a pandemic, puberty, isolation, and adjustment to " a new normal") shows compassion and empathy.

Teens often experience a higher level of stress than adults. Let your teen know that you are open to talking and providing support in finding the right therapist is a great way to demonstrate your understanding, caring, and love.

Please contact me to schedule a joint session to go over questions, paperwork, or my therapy interventions. I would be happy to navigate those areas together if your teen decided to participate.
